Whenever we talk about unemployment in India, one thing is heard that unemployment in India is increasing due to population growth. But there is so much truth in this matter. On the other hand, if we look at the government data, the truth seems to be the opposite.
Actually the population growth rate in India has reached its lowest level. But then what is the reason that is causing huge unemployment in India? Is the population the only person responsible for this? Or does it have any responsibility from the government as well. According to a report in the BBC, the unemployment rate in India has reached its highest level. According to the report published in the BBC itself, the unemployment rate in India is around 9%. Which is the highest ever.
The government is claiming that unemployment in India is increasing due to population growth. While there was a report recently and according to the report, people are still going to jobs in India. And the crisis continues on the jobs of about 1000000 people. The same lock-down and migration of laborers caused 100 million jobs in India. And most of these jobs will never return. In such a situation the problem of permanent unemployment has arisen in India. So what is the government doing to solve this problem? This is an important question.
Is population really increasing in India?
Now you have almost been told that you cannot get employment due to population growth in India. There are long queues, but no employment. And we are now blaming ourselves for this. The government has also told you that you are responsible for population growth. So you are also responsible for unemployment. The government cannot do anything in it.
Now we talk about the statistics and tell you in the statistics, are the population growth rates in India really responsible for unemployment? According to the 2011 census data of the government itself, the population growth rate in India was 1.3%. One thing you have to keep in mind here is that this is not a normal growth rate. There is a separate formula for this. If you google, you will know how the population growth rate is derived? On the other hand, there is also the 2018 data of India’s Economic Review. If you look at these two reports, then the truth will be seen to the contrary. Actually in India, the population growth rate has reached its lowest level at this time. Which is 1.3%. The highest population growth rate in India was from 1971 to 1981. The population growth rate had then peaked at around 2.5%.
Now we compare India’s population growth rate with other countries. If we talk about the population growth rate of the countries of South Asia, then the population growth rate there is about 1.2%. That is, India has reached equal population growth rate in countries of South Asia. According to the World Bank data, India is the country with the lowest population growth rate among middle class countries. In such a situation, to say that the rate of population growth in India is responsible for unemployment. Is completely untrue.
Population growth rate below 1% in 13 states
Now if you go inside the data of India’s population growth rate, you would be surprised that there are 13 states in India in which the population growth rate has gone below 1%. These include most of the states of South India. Apart from this, states like Punjab Maharashtra are also included. If we talk about the ideal situation then the population growth rate should be 2%. That is, at least 2 children should be born from 1 woman. Which are not happening now. This means that most of the states of South India have agreed that one child is enough for them. In such a situation, to say that population growth is responsible for unemployment in India. Proves to be a complete lie.
These 13 states of India have a population growth rate equal to the countries of Europe. In such a situation, it is proved that we have won the battle of population growth rate and got out. And no serious efforts were made at the government level for this.
Actually the problem of unemployment in India is not at the level of the population but at the level of the government. The government makes policies that do not yield any results. Whereas billions of rupees are spent on these policies. The government in India is currently struggling with a huge economic deficit. And the government does not see any way to get out of this. All the money has been withdrawn from the RBI. And now a huge amount of debt is being taken from abroad. In such a situation, the population alone cannot be responsible for unemployment.
You also did not say that the more the population, the more opportunities there are to come. Because where there are more consumers, there will also be more employment. This is a unity formula that the government does not tell you. So how do we assume that unemployment in India is based on the rate of population growth.
Improvement is also being done in states with high population growth rate
Now here we talk about states with high growth population growth rate of India. Which includes states like Haryana Rajasthan Delhi. At the same time, Bihar is notorious for population growth in states like Uttar Pradesh. Now the situation is improving there too. You will be surprised to know that in these states also the population growth rate is moving towards stability. The rate of population growth here has come down to 2%. Which is an achievement in itself.
The period of population explosion in India ranged from 71 to 81. Now this phase has passed. But even today, we are assuming that the population has exploded in India. And the unbridled population is increasing. I do not know whether such people look at the official figures of population in India. Because all these figures are easily available on the Internet. In such a situation, governments say that population growth rate is responsible for unemployment in India. The figures do not bear witness to this.
Birth rate in India is at its lowest level
When we talk about the birth rate, we understand how many children are born in India. But the reality is that how many children can be born by a woman from the age of 18 to 45 years. And how many children are being born. From this the birth rate is extracted and understood.
Now we talk about birth rate data in India. The birth rate of the population in India was around 4.5%. Which has now come down to 2.3%. Which is an amazing thing in itself.
Now we talk about the next generation arrival rate in India. Whenever we talk about the coming of the next generation, according to World Bank data, at least 2 children should be born from a couple. But you will be surprised to know that this rate has reached 1.6% in the southern states. Which should be 2% in ideal condition. In such a situation, it has been established in the southern states that a couple can have a child.
The World Bank says that if you want to bring your new generation, then you should have at least 2 children. Only then can you enter the next generation in the right way. So the day is not far when the Indian government will have to spend money to increase the population in India. Which is currently happening in countries like Europe and Japan.
Now let us give you another figure related to the population here. According to the government’s own data, by 2021 the growth rate of population in India will come to 1%. And if we talk about the year 2041, then this population growth rate will be 0.5%. Which will be equal to developed countries. In such a situation, it is said that population growth rate is a big problem in India. Is completely untrue.
